Gordon Mann
Gordon is a consulting arborist in Auburn CA, and co-owner of California Tree and Landscape Consulting, Inc (CalTLC), owner of Mann Made Resources a tree conservation products company, co-founder of TREES ROI a tree root certification product company, and the Soils Genomics Institute for Healthy Community Trees. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Forest Science from the University of Illinois. He has over 45 years of experience managing trees where people live from the municipal, non-profit, and private tree care perspectives. He is a current Director on the California Urban Forests Council, and a recent Trustee on the TREE Fund Board. He is an ISA Certified Arborist exam proctor and Certified Tree Climber assessor for the Western Chapter ISA. He serves on the ANSI A300 committee reviewing and writing industry standards as the Alternate representative (and past Representative) for SMA/UCFS. He is passionate about helping others grow quality trees where people live, educating people on proper tree care, and enjoys talking about trees with people.
Gordon is a past International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Board Director, past president of: the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA), Western Chapter ISA, San Mateo Arboretum Society, and California Arborists Association, and City Talk Toastmasters. He is a past board member of the Urban and Community Forestry Society (UCFS, previously SMA), and a past member and chair of the California Urban Forest Advisory Council. He is past chair of the International Tree Climbing Competition (3 years) and Northern California Tree Climbing Competition (13 years). His focus is on growing trees in a sustainable manner to maturity and receiving the benefits and return on investment trees provide people. He is active in professional associations.
The CalTLC consulting company is appreciated for the expert advice provided to tree owners, tree care companies, attorneys, and developers.
Canopy matters. Gordon served as the Urban Forest Services Director leading the Greenprint Initiative at the Sacramento Tree Foundation to double the tree canopy in the populated areas of the 6 county and 22 city Sacramento region. He is now encouraging the California Urban Forests Council to create a California Greenprint that focuses on the canopy and setting canopy goals throughout the state to guide community tree management.
