Our General Business Studies with Concentration in Real Estate Certificate gives you the freedom to build a customized curriculum that aligns with your real estate career goals.

You will gain a strong foundation in core business and real estate principles, including property management, investment analysis, real estate law, and finance. With this knowledge, you will be well-prepared for opportunities in residential and commercial real estate, development, brokerage, or property management. Program Curriculum:

The General Business Studies with Concentration in Real Estate program curriculum is a total of 36 units, consisting of:

16 units of required coursework focused in real estate
One required ethics course or seminar
Additional 20 units of elective coursework in the business management discipline (MGMT X 1-199 and 400-499)*

Courses are typically four units each, but can vary. An average student may take a total of nine courses, plus one required ethics course/seminar, to complete this program.

*Some elective courses may not be available for open enrollment and can only be taken with instructor approval, such as internships, accelerated courses and some advanced courses. Please consult with a student advisor for more information.

International Students

This certificate is approved for international students to study full time in the U.S. on an F-1 visa.

International students must meet English language proficiency requirements for admission into the program.

**Federal Financial Aid Gainful Employment Disclosures

The U.S. Department of Education requires colleges and universities to disclose certain information for any financial aid eligible program that, “prepares students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation”. This information includes program costs; occupations that the program prepares students to enter; occupational profiles; on time completion rate; and for the most recent award year: the number of students who have completed the program, the number of students who complete the program within the estimated duration, the job placement rate, and the median Title IV and private loan debt incurred by those who complete the program. Real Estate Scholarship Fund

The UCLA Extension Real Estate Scholarship Fund was established in 2024 in partnership with Coldwell Banker Cares Foundation to provide financial assistance and greater access to education that students need while pursuing their careers in real estate.

This scholarship provides funding for an individual who has a passion for continuing education and professional development in real estate and who is working toward completion of one of the four real estate certificate programs. The scholarship is awarded bi-annually, each fall and spring quarter, and covers the cost of one course within the real estate certificate programs offered by UCLA Extension (value up to $900).
